Google’s CC is now an AI agent that helps run the whole household
Is there an AI agent that can help run your household? Google Labs announced on September 17, 2026 that CC — its AI productivity agent — is being repositioned as a shared family agent. CC gets its own Google account with its own permissions, and up to six family members can each choose what to share: school emails, sports club messages, vet appointments, forwarded photos of invites (TechCrunch).
Each morning CC sends a shared ‘Your Day Ahead’ brief and maintains a shared family Calendar and task list, pulling important dates and to-dos from email — so an orthodontist confirmation or a school teacher-workday announcement lands on the shared calendar automatically. It can pre-fill permission slips and activity-registration PDFs (it cannot sign or submit them itself, per Google’s product page), build school supply lists and weekly meal plans, figure out drive times between activities, and create shared Docs or Sheets. It keeps a group memory that separates household facts (the go-to grocery list) from individual ones (dietary restrictions).
CC runs on Google’s Antigravity agentic harness and Gemini models, each instance on its own isolated cloud computer. For now it’s a Google Labs experiment: web and mobile, US only, personal Google account, adults 18+. Existing CC users get an upgrade-invite email in waves; new users join a waitlist.
Why it matters
This is the first big-tech attempt at a true household agent — not a personal assistant with shared access, but an agent with its own identity that the whole family delegates to. If it works, the family group chat’s scheduling burden shrinks dramatically. The 18+ limit and US-only scope are real constraints for now.
